Recent Acquisitions Require Companies To Co-Mingle At NAB
Movement is nothing new at NAB. Each year, countless companies shift and rearrange as they grow and overflow (or downsize) their booth space. But this year there are several companies who, because of recent consolidations, are now having to share that space with new partners.
Two companies who will be roommates for the first time this year are Pinnacle Systems, Inc., and Truevision, Inc. Pinnacle, makers of the FX Deko character generator, Lightning Stillstore and Thunder multichannel server, officially acquired the desktop videographics company for $14 million on December 16 of last year.
Bob Wilson, vice president and general manager of the broadcast production group at Pinnacle, said customers will not have a hard time finding either the Truevision or the Pinnacle signs at NAB.
"We are organizing the exhibit so there will still be a Truevision identity, and particularly the Targa brand identity will still be prominent in the booth," Wilson said.
Because both companies are traded publicly, the transaction is currently working it's way through final approval by the FCC and the shareholders, he said, but he anticipates completion of the process to occur before NAB.
Show-goers won't be greeted by a twosided booth with a dividing white line running down the middle....
