Abstract

An editorial notes that Robert Maxwell, the British publishing tycoon who died recently, will be remembered with mixed feelings in the scientific community. Although Maxwell was a prolific creator of scientific journals, many of them distinguished, he was also seen by many as a bully and a cheat.
