REDMOND, Wash - Drugstore.com launched its virtual web-- based drug store Feb. 25. In a one-on-- one interview with Drug Store News, Peter Neupert, president and chief executive of drugstore.com and Suzan Fine DelBene, vice president of marketing and store development, said drugstore.com will link information content with commerce. "Information is a big part of our service," said Fine DelBene. "Helping people understand and deal with products is very important to us."
Pharmacists and other category specialists will not be online in real time at drugstore.com, but consumers will be able to send e-mail that Fine DelBene says will be answered within 24 hours.
Aware that an estimated 85 percent of all prescriptions are filled through third party plans, drugstore.com at press time had negotiated partnership agreements with several leading insurance providers.
