Combining topical themes with traditional sounds, the Klezmatics have hit upon a formula that has kept the band alive for a quarter of a century.
The group teams up with African-American Jewish gospel singer Joshua Nelson March 13 at Somerville Theatre. The concert will draw in part on dieir joint 2004 recording "Brother Moses Smote the Water."
"We wanted to pair the story of African-American slavery and Jewish slavery together," said Frank London, Klezmatics trumpet and keyboard player.
