The Metropolitan Bank and Trust Company (Metrobank) of the Republic of the Philippines partnered with Alltel Information Services of Little Rock, Ark., for data processing and technological services. The joint venture will create a new company called Systematics Technology Inc., which will be composed initially of Metrobank's information services department and managed by an Alltel team. This is Alltel's first outsourcing contract outside of the United States. The company plans to market its services to other banks in the Philippines. In other news, Alltel signed a five-year, multi-million dollar contract with Unisys Corp. of Blue Bell, Pa. Unisys will provide outsourcing services for retail banking products based on check-image processing technology to the Bank of the West. It also will assume responsibility for an existing image item processing operation in the bank's Concord, Calif., service center. (Steven Bova, Alltel, 501/220-5100.)
