For the second year in a row, the highest yield in the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) yield contest was raised hundreds of miles from the Corn Belt. Windancer Farms, Tonopah, Arizona, had the winning entry for 1996, raising 323 bu/A. (Bruce Ford of Hermiston, Oregon, had the highest yield in 1995 and placed second in the irrigated class in 1996.)
