Everyone's talking at KLFJ, the AM radio station in Springfield that has switched owners and formats. Formerly a southern gospel-format radio station, the 5,000-watt AM broadcaster will become Talk 1550 the week of Oct. 27, said new station owner Mark Holmes.
Holmes acquired the station from the Burrell family, who ran the station from its inception about 20 years ago. Founded as a southern gospel station, the AM has gone through a few format changes, but all have been within a Christian-music focus, Holmes said.
"At one time this station was the Christian music station in Springfield; now there are five," Holmes said.
Music will now only be a part of the station's early Saturday and Sunday morning broadcasts. The rest of its programming will be contemporary talk radio.
