KSPR, the local ABC affiliate and Channel 33 in Springfield, has new ownership. GOCOM Communications has reached an agreement to merge the stock of its three television stations with Cottonwood Communications, the company that currently owns KSPR, said GOCOM chief executive officer Ric Gorman.
Cottonwood Communications, whose primary stockholder is Bachow Investment Partners, owns KSPR, KCPM in Chico/Redding, Calif., and KMID in Midland/Odessa, Texas. GOCOM Communications is to be the umbrella company owning that group and another group of stations owned by GOCOM Television. The GOCOM Television stations include WFXI in New Bern, N.C.; WGXA in Macon, Ga.; and KTVE in Monroe, La., and El Dorado, Ark. GOCOM Communications was formed in February.
As for changes in the Springfield station, Gorman said those will happen on two levels: for the viewers, and in programming.
