Master of What?

Abstract

Being what I am-- young, Catholic, female and just having completed my Master of Divinity degree at Yale Divinity School-- I have grown accustomed to the questions posed to me by the curious. For three years I have responded patiently to the often asked, "What's a Divinity School?" The question ranks second in frequency only to its inevitable partner, "Master of What?" I estimate that I have been asked one or both of these questions on a weekly basis since I began at Yale in 1983.
