iBEAM Broadcasting Corp. today appointed veteran network television industry executive Peter Desnoes as CEO. He will use his experience to guide iBEAM's deployment of its satellite-based network to deliver streaming media on the Internet. Prior to joining iBEAM, Desnoes was founder, managing general partner and CEO of Burnham Broadcasting Co., a partnership which owned network affiliated television stations in several major U.S. markets and included a commercial production and post-production company. Desnoes had a 16- year career with ABC and was president and general manager of WLS-TV in Chicago from 1979 until forming Burnham in 1983. He also is a former chairman of the board for the ABC Affiliates.
The iBEAM Network uses satellite broadcast technology to deliver high quality streaming media on the Internet. The system allows telephone companies, cable operators and Internet service providers to bring near VHS quality live and on-demand video to end users via cable modems or high speed phone lines.
