ROCHESTER, N.H. -The first product introduction from Cabletron Systems Inc. under the management of chief executive Piyush Patel is a SmartSwitch Access family for dial-up remote access. It can view Layer 4 TCP/UDP port assignments in the same way that the SmartSwitch Router, originally from Yago, handles traffic.
While SmartSwitch Access seems to borrow an idea from Patel's former company, Yago Systems, these Layer 4 observation concepts were under development for small switch and router families at Cabletron before the company ever contemplated acquiring Yago.
