Quarterly we will present product reviews from our technology editors at TMCT Labs. They will examine indepth new products that will have an impact on the call center industry. In reviewing products, several criteria are examined: The criteria used included ease of installation, platforms supported, voice boards supported, open standards supported, user friendliness, how quickly you could develop CTI applications, security, GUI and features. We hope this feature will aid you in your quest for maintaining an up-to-date call center.
GoldMine 3.2 For Windows 95 And Windows NT 4.0 From Goldmine Software Corporation
GoldMine is a popular contact management software product. GoldMine 3.2 for Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0 has all the features of a great personal information manager, but the real strength of this product lies in its ability to provide enterprisewide data (record) sharing. GoldMine includes such useful features as Internet Web import, seamless ACT! import, integrated organizational charts, excellent reporting features, wireless paging, multimedia management and Web data maintenance. GoldMine v3.2 integrates contact management, document management, sales automation and activity planning into a single user-friendly interface.
Operational Testing
We installed the GoldMine 3.2 software onto a Windows 95 Pentium 120. Installation went smoothly. After we installed the program from 3 disks, GoldMine automatically launched itself, presenting us with the main user interface. GoldMine supports MDI (multiple document interface), which allows you display multiple records. We liked GoldMine's organizational chart feature. This feature allows you to group related contacts in hierarchical organizational charts (or trees) to create graphical views of companies. Another feature we liked was the peg board. The peg board provides a colorcoded graphical view of all user login and logout times, which is useful information for management and system administrators. The peg board also logs keyboard and mouse activity during a GoldMine session - an invaluable tool for training or improving employee productivity. Configuring GoldMine was very easy. All the menus and preference settings are organized into dialog boxes with tabs. Under these tabs, you can configure the modem, Internet, schedule, calendar, pager and other settings. With any contact manager, scheduling call backs is very important. GoldMine handles this task with power and ease.
