ABSTRACT
Internet Addiction has been a growing menace to the world population. CBT has found to be effective in treating many disorders like Alcoholics, anxiety and depression.
CBT for Internet Addictions has been conducted in three phase manner. First is Behaviourial aspect, Second is Cognitive Correction and Third phase is the harmful reduction. To study the effectiveness of CBT on Internet Addiction 28 patients were referred to by Psychiatrist in three hospitals were given the treatment for 12 weeks using IADQ scales pre and post.
The cognitive behaviour therapy showed improvement in all the areas of the scale. Thus cognitive behavior therapy proved to be effective in reducing internet addiction.

INTRODUCTION
Now a days Internet has got wide usage in all circles and walks of life. It is not the luxury as before, but has become a necessity, because of its easy access and usage not only in India but also all over the world. India is the second largest Internet user after china.
This technological blessing has also become a curse when the normal use takes the form of addiction. The latter can be defined as the inability to control ones behaviour which causes marked distress and functional impairment in daily life. This term was coined by Golberg in 1995. The American society of Addiction in 2011 redefined addiction as a chronic brain disorder.
Definition 2011, Lancet has cautioned that it is harmful to not only the family, but environment and to self. A proper understanding of vulnerability, effect of substances on the body and mind, effective medical and psychosocial interventions, family support and follow up support are all important for restitution and recovery. (Lancet, 2011)
Times have changed and now new behaviourial addictions have found a place within the society. The newer ones are gambling, gaming, Internet use, Food addiction, Sex Addiction and shopping addiction etc. (Rosenberg et al., 2014).
These addictions have also taken more number of women into ambit, which has become mere gender sensitive. It is not that only addiction has to be taken care of but also relapse, management and co morbidities (Murthy. P, 2008). Previous studies indicated that males were more addicted. (Nalwa et al., 2003)
