Abstract

In this article an attempt to specify the concept “social and economic space of the city” as, first of all, the social space including economic space, and concentrated in the concrete territory is made. The ideat that in social and economic space there are spheres of action which depend on realization of actor’s economic targets, labour practices, the economic relations, is proved by the author. In the work the comparative analysis of classical sociological concepts which allowed to define some features and the prospects of use of the ideas of structuralist constructivism for detection of specifics of social and economic space of the city, is carried out. As a result, important elements of social and economic space of the city, such as fields and locality are allocated: places of work and residence, interaction. Summing up the results, the author comes to a conclusion that the social and economic space of the city is, firstly, the space of interactions in which economic interests act as a subject, and secondly, it is the territory in which it is possible to allocate the center and the periphery connected among themselves by labour market, transport connection, specifics of the capital.
