Except for the informative editor's note on Lizandro Chavez Alfaro's life and literary style, Trigame tierra is a reissue of his first novel (1969), a finalist in the Seix Barral competition. Because of the aura surrounding the more publicized Latin American "boom" writers, many deserving Central American authors, such as Chavez Alfaro, have failed to be recognized.
Born in Bluefields, Nicaragua, in 1929, Chavez lived in Mexico from the 1940s until 1976, working as a journalist, an announcer, and a theater director.
