There have always been certain mysteries surrounding Che Guevara's final tragic campaign in Bolivia, where he was killed by government forces in October 1967. Abel Posse, who has written a number of readable historical novels, takes advantage of the possibilities of gaps in the chronological record of (.he's journey from his failed campaign in the Congo to Bolivia by having him spend a period in Prague, a city Posse knows well from his diplomatic assignment there in the Argentine Embassy. Never in the best of health and afflicted with chronic asthma, Cite stops off in Pra-Lie ostensibly to recover from the rigors of the jungle campaign, although his stay serves equally to blur the trail of his movements and the supposed fact that he did not return to Cuba before embarking for Bolivia.
