In the article the problems of formation of the innovative image of the region are analyzed. The subject of research are the mechanisms of informational support of processes of the formation of an innovative image. The research methodology is based on the theory of the innovative development and the interregional integration, on the approaches to the formation of network models of interactions. The authors examine the factors and conditions that determine the innovative shape of the territory, identify its basic components. It is noted that for the identification of the region as a center of the innovative activity it is necessary to inform actively the public about the ongoing innovation projects, activities focused on the development and the promotion of innovation. On the basis of the analysis of the quality of work of the investment portal of the Rostov region recommendations for the creation on its basis of informational and investment platform for the formation of innovative image of areas are offered. It is concluded that modern informational and communicational technologies have a considerable potential for the formation of an innovative image of the region and the increase its investment attractiveness.
