Back in the Internet Stone Age (circa 1997), East Lansing was one of only two cities in the United States with high-speed cable Internet access, and Ryan Vartoogian was a sophomore at Michigan State University with an idea: start a company - which would become Spartan Internet Consulting - offering consulting services for companies that didn't understand the technology behind, or the potential of, high-speed Internet service.
A scant 11 years later, Vartoogian, on behalf of his 29 employees, accepted the Entrepreneurial Award for Internet Services, saying that Spartan Internet Consulting's success is due in large part to "those individuals on staff that really make a difference every day helping our clients all over the country [and represent ] Lansing as a great place to live and work."
