The booming spa industry in Thailand now has a more defined image in the country's business scene as the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) has announced the first official regulations and standards for spa owners, which affect spas and related businesses nationwide. The hope is that, with these new rules, the spa industry may be successful in its request to the excise department to lift a 10 per cent tax, since it has been separated from the massage parlour industry. The issue is under consideration.
