Having first come to prominence as the CFO of Ashanti Goldfields, Mark Keatley subsequently made a radical switch of industries to take on the same role at Ardana Bioscience. Now he has been appointed CFO of Famar, the Greek manufacturer and distributor of pharmaceutical products.
At Famar, which is owned by the Marinopoulos family and recently created London offices to supervize overseas operations, Keatley says he has finally found the company that suits him best.
The Marinopoulos group, owner of a group of companies including Marks & Spencer and Starbucks in Greece, has been very active over the last couple of years in several areas of the Greek economy. It is one of the leading commercial and industrial groups in Greece with a range of activities both domestically and internationally including food distribution, maxi-discount retailing and cosmetics retailing.
Famar, which is a private label manufacturer, develops products which then become household names under other brands. Customers include all of the top pharmaceutical drugs companies such as Novartis, GlaxoSmithKline and PfizerPharmacia.
