The new fall collections won't be the only conversation starter at the Steve Madden WSA booth. Insider learned last week (over breakfast with Rob Schmertz, president of wholesale, and Gina Campbell, marketing director) that founder Steve Madden, who has been serving a 41-month prison sentence at Florida's Elgin federal prison facility, is set to return as the creative design chief this spring.

FIRST IN SHOW: Douglas Hannant has a new trick up his well-adorned sleeve: shoes. The Park Avenue/Palm Beach-friendly designer is launching a footwear collection for fall '05 that will debut on the catwalk during his New York Fashion Week ready-to-wear show (Feb. 9).
