Sudbury business people on a recent trade mission to Newfoundland to form partnerships, joint ventures and new companies were swamped with offers from interested companies there who had the same goal.
All of the delegates, who made up Team Nickel Belt, met with potential partners and many of them found prospects that will likely lead to new companies.
"I met with 19 people," says Larry Perfetto, vice-president of Perfetto Manufacturing Ltd. "I had someone lined up to meet before we came here and there is a good chance I'll be setting up a business (in Newfoundland)."
Perfetto was one of the most sought-after companies on the trip. His company is a manufacturer and servicer of hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders and it is a large supplier to mining forestry and industrial industries in Northern Ontario.
"I'm going to bring our knowledge of the mining industry, our product line and our technical ability, and he (potential partner) is going to bring his know-how and his experience (to the partnership). It should be a good match," says Perfetto.
