1. Introduction
Recently in Korea, a variety of societal pressures, such as poorer employment prospects, have increased the age at marriage and contributed to the natural decrease in the number of children born to each new family. These pressures have coincided with lowered consumer confidence and more frugal consumers as the economy worsens (Diddi and Niehm, 2017). As a consequence, overall sales have decreased. However, the sales of baby products are still steadily increasing despite the decreased rate of marriage and birth rates, as well as economic tightening. This is due to the consumer sentiment of wanting higher quality baby products as the number of children per family decreases (Schaude and Mohr, 2017). The result has been less expenditure overall but more spending on baby products (Han, 2015; Kim, 2015). Even so, young mothers tend to carry babies on the front rather than on their backs due to its greater convenience and for improved emotional connection with the baby (Lee and Lee, 2017). Recently, a company applied information about the best postures for healthy development of baby hipbones from the International Hip Dysplasia Institute (IHDI) to develop a hip seat that induces the best posture. This product also received official certification from IHDI saying that it helps with the development of a baby’s hip joints (Yun, 2017). In addition, a campaign was carried out called “Safe Baby Wearing,” which promoted the correct method of wearing baby carriers for the healthy growth of babies (Oh, 2017). However,...
