LEONARD SOFFER, and ROBIN SOFFER, Financial Statement Analysis: A Valuation Approach (Upper Saddle River, NJ: Prentice Hall, 2003, pp. vi, 452).
The Soffers' very well-written and clearly presented book integrates accounting, finance, and business strategy as it relates to financial statement analysis and corporate valuation. The book continuously and cleverly weaves together concepts from these different fields so that students can easily identify the connections among them. It also consistently demonstrates the "how" of financial analysis and valuation without compromising the necessary explanations of "why." As Professor Revsine states in the Preface, "it is gratifying to see a book that continues the growing emphasis on informed use of accounting in all facets of financial decision making." "The Stoffers (this book)," he concludes, "make an important contribution to the study and practice of valuation" (p. xvii).
