Since the mid-1990s, the Jones Apparel Group has embarked upon a strategy emphasizing diversification of product and channel of distribution. This has primarily been achieved by the acquisition of such notable brands as Nine West, Easy Spirit, Bandolino, Napier, Norton McNaughton, Erika, Gloria Vanderbilt, Energie and l.e.i. These additions have served to complement an existing portfolio comprised of Jones New York, Jones New York Sport and the licensed Lauren by Ralph Eauren and Polo Jeans Company brands.
As a result, Jones now maintains core competencies in apparel, footwear, handbags and costume jewelry. Ranked No. 396 on the Fortune 500, the company has continued its growth and evolution while maintaining margins that exceed industry averages.
