Viking Components Inc. held a grand opening and charity golf event earlier this month for its new digs in Rancho Santa Margarita, a 130,000-square-foot facility that includes 60,000-square-feet of manufacturing space and houses more than 400 employees.
Viking is looking to the new $4 million facility to help it triple its unit volume during the next six months. The company, which previously was located in Aliso Viejo, makes computer memory upgrades and PC cards.
The event included about 150 guests including sports celebrities Reggie Jackson, Larry Bird and Notre Dame coach Lou Holtz. Musical entertainment was provided by Kool and the Gang. Body Text Viking also has formed a new business unit focusing on computer equipment manufacturers. The move is an attempt to expand Viking's business beyond its mainstay reseller market. The company also announced this month that it had received ISO 9000 certification.
KDS USA, Garden Grove, has signed a pact to have its computer monitors sold through superstore chain CompUSA in a deal the company projects will exceed more than 15,000 units annually.
