Irvine-based architectural firm Bastien and Associates Inc. announced it won a contract to design a $75 million studio near Nashville that its officials say will include the world's biggest sound stage.
But it also found itself involved in a Tennessee controversy because the studio is part of a proposed $1 billion amusement park that skeptics doubt will ever get off the ground.
Bastien and Associates owner Gary Bastien said the controversy is being stirred up by a few doubters and "the local press is whipping up negativism."
Bastien has become popular in Hollywood in the last couple of years for designing studios using tilt-up building techniques that cost much less than traditionally built studios....
