This is his story." He is John Meier; the story is told by Vancouver Sun reporter Gerald Bellett.
Bellett has been writing about Meier since the mid-seventies when the latter was "forced into exile" in Canada in order to elude his enemies -- the White House and the Howard Hughes organization.
But there's a big problem with the story: The wildest claims Meier makes cannot be checked or corroborated. No problem. All journalists have reported on wild claims that can't be supported -- they're simply reported as the wild claims they are and attributed to the source. But Bellett doesn't treat these claims in the normal journalist's way. He tells Meier's story from the omniscient point of view. Bellett is God.
