After being away from the Detroit market for several years, Parisian President and CEO Toni Browning said she was impressed by the development along the Hall Road retail corridor in Macomb County.
"I hadn't been back to Detroit in four or five years, and I could not believe how much Lakeside (Mall) had built up and how much that corridor had built up," Browning said.
Retail development, housing growth and the style of shopping mall that Bloomfield Hills-based Taubman Centers Inc. is building in Clinton Township are among the factors that boosted Parisian's interest in becoming an anchor at Partridge Creek Fashion Park, Browning said.
Partridge Creek is a 600,000-square-foot, 55-acre site along the south side of Hall Road between Garfield and Romeo Plank roads, four miles east of Lakeside Mall.
Taubman Centers Inc. announced Oct. 18 that the mall will be anchored by a 120,000 square-foot, two-level Parisian store, a 129,000 square-foot, twolevel Nordstrom store and a 14-screen multiplex operated by Oak Park-based MJR Theaters Inc. Taubman likely will announce additional tenants on Nov. 21, when the company holds a groundbreaking ceremony.
Browning, who was named Parisian's top executive in August, wasn't part of the initial site-selection process for the store's third metro Detroit location. But she was part of the real estate committee that reviewed the site when she was president and CEO of Saks Inc.'s Proffitt's and McRae's division.
