National TechTeam Inc.'s founder and former CEO is back in charge, but he never really left.
William Coyro's return to Southfield-based TechTeam (Nasdaq: TEAM) follows two consecutive quarters of sluggish sales and came just six days before the announcement of an expanded contract with Ford Motor Co. TechTeam's board removed Anthony Tam as president and CEO on Aug 9 and replaced him with Coyro. Tam remains a board member.
"We needed some reinvigoration of the company, in particular in sales," said Chairman Wallace Riley, who also is president of the Detroit law firm Riley, Roumell & Connolly P.C.
Riley said the board has reached an employment agreement with Coyro but declined to discuss the terms. In 1999, when Coyro was chairman, he received a salary of $200,000, according to documents on file with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
