After working for two of the largest flooring manufacturers in the business, partners Tim Craycroft and Wayne Daniel decided, a few years ago, to try their hand at their own business. What evolved is Bluegrass Specialty Flooring, a hardwood flooring manufacturer expected to open in mid-November.
"We've been in the business a combined 30 years, and after working for Bruce Hardwood Floors in Nashville, the largest manufacturer in the world, and Robbins, Inc. for the last five years, we decided, 'Let's do it ourselves,'" said Tim Craycroft, president.
With a $700,000 investment, Craycroft and Daniel's 35,000-square-foot Bowling Green facility will manufacture 3-1/4 inch x 2-1/4 inch random length unfinished strip flooring. The company will initially employ about 30 people when it opens around mid-November. "Hopefully, within about eight months to a year, we'll be up to 60 employees, and we're hoping within five years...
