Dominic Pangborn has lashed his fortunes to fashion and greeting cards in hopes of adding zip to Pangborn Design Ltd.'s overall sales.
Pangborn's Detroit-based graphic-design and marketing company, long known for splashy corporate publications and logos, has launched a line of men's ties, business-theme greeting cards and general gift accessories.
Despite their whimsical nature, Pangborn's ties, cards and gift wrappings are in line with the company's corporate strategy. The products' designs are computer-enhanced, diversify Pangborn's services, are targeted at upscale consumers--especially in high technology--and maintain the company's reputation for quality. Pangborn Design's regular services include design, illustration, photography, art, typesetting, production and printing supervision. Clients use the services for annual reports, packaging, video production, magazines, advertising and identity packages.
Said Pangborn, the company president: "I have always had an interest in designing other products under the Pangborn name. We're in the design business and not limited to logos and graphics. It is the same process of graphic design--a different set of problems, but the same process."
Pangborn said sales were more than $4 million for the year that ended June 30. In comparison, sales for the year that ended June 30, 1991, were $3 million.
