More than half of the 140 unionized employees of the suburban Observer & Eccentric newspapers are slated to return to the bargaining table Thursday.
About 80 press operators, janitors, and composing and mail room workers belonging to Local 13-N of the Graphic Communications International Union are expected this week to continue talks on a new labor contract. Also negotiating a contract is Newspaper Guild Local 22, which covers about 60 reporters, photographers, copy editors and editorial clerical staff at the Livonia-based chain.
A new round of talks with the Guild has not been scheduled, although Observer & Eccentric President Richard Aginian said he expects to resume discussions with the union soon. He said he is...
