ICEA Teacher Certification Corner
The TCP Examination -- Road Map for Future Growth
You open the envelope containing the ICEA Certification Examination. The sound of tearing paper breaks the silence as you pick up your number 2 pencil and begin. Are you likely to feel this is a challenge or a nightmare? Will you move confidently through the pages or become more and more frantic as you proceed?
Some people "test well" and others suffer at least in part from "exam anxiety." As TCP Administrator, I receive calls and letters from some candidates who have failed the examination. Others enclose comments with their answer sheets and I see specific disagreements some have with particular test questions.
After 750 women were certified, the following statistics on the examination were compiled:
15% pass with a score of 85-100%
58% pass with a score of 75-84.99%
16% pass with a score of 70-74.99%
12% fail with a score of 69.99% or less.
How can you increase your likelihood of successfully passing the ICEA examination? My last column described ways to use the Teacher Certification Program (TCP) to increase your knowledge...
