While carriers continue to fight the downturn, it is hardly surprising that telecom vendors and industry pundits at the recent Supercomm trade fair in the US wanted to focus much more on the future of the sector. Elizabeth Biddlecombe reports
ATTENDANCE at this year's Supercomm-the behemoth US telecoms trade show - was down by 25 per cent reflecting the fact that it was by no means immune to the telecoms slump.
But attendees suggested that business was still being done even if foot traffic was lower. Despite record losses from vendors like Nortel their booths were still splendid. And the organisers say this year had nearly as many exhibitors as 2001 (825 versus 853).
Of course, the give-away slinkies, sweeties and pens were ubiquitous. The company...
