A 54-year-old man experienced insomnia and hypomania following use of dexamethasone for altitude sickness· during mountain climbing.
The man, who had planned high-altitude trekking, presented for consultation about prophylaxis for altitude sickness and the physician prescribed dexamethasone therapy. As per the instructions from his physician,he started taking dexamethasone. During trekking a fellow trekking companion told him about acetazolamide [Diamox].
