When is a country music magazine not a country music magazine? When it morphs into a country lifestyle magazine without changing its editorial content. That's what Country America hopes to convince advertisers of, as publisher Meredith Corp. this month begins repositioning the monthly as an entry in the hot home-and-entertaining category.
The magazine's coverage of country music will be de-emphasized in the new marketing push to advertisers. "When we launched, we needed to get Madison Avenue's attention, so we focused on what's sexy: the music," said CA publisher Gail Healy "Now we're focusing more on the other categories," including food.
