Unaipon, David (1872-1967)
Australian short-story writer, scholar
He was born at the Point McLeay Mission, South Australia. One of the most fascinating figures in Aboriginal literature, Unaipon is widely recognized as the first Black Australian author in English.
A polymath who was also a lay preacher, an inventor, a musician and an Aboriginal spokesperson, Unaipon was deeply involved in the spirituality of his indigenous culture.
