Abstract

ImageMind Software has found a way to put the spark of real life into e-mail without taking up large portions of computer memory and time. Its Video Express e-mail software uses streaming technology to bring video, audio and text files over the sender's standard e-mail program to its server. Recipients receive an e-mail message containing a hyperlink to the Video Express server. When clicked, the link plays the multimedia files through whatever Web browser is installed in the PC - in real time - with no downloading or extracting files. The time may be right for this new e-mail technology. A 1998 survey revealed that 83% of Internet users send e-mail, making it the most popular on-line function.
