Amanar dominates at home Ha Hungary's Varga injured U.S. women defeat China, lose to Canada COMPILED BY JOHN CRUMLISH
YAROSH, SVETLICHNY SWIPE CUP Third overall last year, Tatiana Yarosh won the women's all-around, beam and floor titles at the 1999 Ukrainian Cup, held April 7-9 at the national training center in Koncha Zaspa. Yarosh also finished first on beam and tied for first on floor at the '98 Junior Europeans.
At the Cup, Alyona Kvasha won vaulting and '96 Olympian Olga Teslenko won bars. All-around silver medalist Viktoria Karpenko and defending all-around titlist Inga Shkarupa each took three individual event medals. (Absent was '98 all-around silver medalist Olga Roschupkina.)
In the men's competition, Alexander Svetlichny added golds on pommel horse and vault to his all-around victory. Born August 23, 1972, Svetlichny placed ninth all-around at the '96 Olympics, first allaround at the '97 Ukrainian championships and fourth on parallel bars at the '98 Europeans. He is coached by Anatoly Chemiakin in Lugansk.
Injured and therefore not competing were '96 Olympic parallel bars champion Rustam Sharipov and Roman Zozulia (13th all-around at the '97 worlds and fourth allaround at the '98 Europeans). Alexander Beresch bypassed the meet due to fatigue. Beresch was his country's top all-arounder (ninth) at the '97 worlds, and placed fifth allaround at the '98 Europeans.

GENERAUX, MAREE TRIUMPH
Fanny Generaux and Florent Maree won the women's and men's all-around titles at the 1999 French Cup, held April 3-4 in Mulhouse. Generaux was not a member of France's team at the '97 worlds or '98 Europeans. Her limited international credentials include a shared all-around gold at the '96 Wild Rose International and a silver at the '96 Bluewater International (both meets held in Canada).
Maree, the reigning European junior allaround champion, placed ahead of current French all-around senior champion Yann Cucherat. Surprises included weak performances by '97 French all-around...
