TWO-TIME world champion Shannon Miller cited a been-there done-that attitude in her decision not to try for a seventh World Championships. Instead, she headed to Catania, Sicily for the University Games, Aug. 19-25.
The Games yielded mixed results for the semi-retired American. Miller won the allaround over teammate Kathleen Shrieves, but missed out on a team title after a beam slip. She withdrew from two of three finals with a hamstring injury. (She finished fifth on bars.)
"Hopefully (when I retire], I'll be remembered as someone who enjoyed the sport," she told the Associated Press. "Someone who put in the effort and worked hard."
