CZECHS DOMINATE MEMORIAL
Czech gymnasts swept the senior category at the ninth annual Eva Bosakova Memorial, a competition for balance beam and floor exercise only, held April 27 in Prague. Bosakova, who passed away in 1991, placed first on beam at the 1960 Olympics and '62 worlds, and first on floor at the '58 worlds.
Of the top finishers, only senior bronze medalist Michaela Radkova competed at the '02 Europeans, where she was 38th in prelims.

FINNS FLY AT JR. NORDICS
Norway's Joachim Hanche Olsen won the all-around, but gymnasts from Finland won four events and the team competition at the Nordic junior men's championships (ages 1314), held May 11-12. Finland and team bronze medalist Denmark placed 20th and 25th, respectively, at the '02 Junior Europeans.

KUZNETSOVA,STOYANOV WIN IN BULGARIA
Russian-born Yevgenia Kuznetsova and defending champion Sergei Stoyanov won the women's and men's allaround titles, respectively, at the Bulgarian championships, held May 17-19 in Sofia.
Kuznetsova's 36.10 total outscored silver medalist Ralitsa Rangelova (35.70) and bronze medalist Nikolina Tankusheva. At the '02 European championships, Kuznetsova and Rangelova finished eighth and 21st, respectively, and Tankusheva finished 26th in preliminaries.
Stoyanov, who competed at the '02 Europeans and '01 worlds, outscored runner-up Kiril Gizdov, 52.20-60.75. Ivailo Torodov placed third, ahead of Alexander Markov.
2001 world floor and rings champion Jordan Jovtchev did not compete.
KWIATKOWSKI GERMAN CHAMP
Twelfth at the '02 Europeans and 19th at the '01 worlds, Sven Kwiatkowski won the senior title at the German championships, held May 20-23 in Leipzig. Kwiatkowski was third last year. Defending champion Thomas Andergassen finished sixth. Third all-around at the '02 Junior Europeans, Rene Piephardt won the 17-18 age group.
