Abstract

This article discusses a new geometric method for the parameterization of the ellipse based on the Dandelin theorem and the Valencia sphere, with the corresponding interpretation of the conic sections. This method for the determination of the ellipse's parameters, without to use a Cartesian coordinate system, applies basic trigonometric identities and right triangles. The concepts based on the Valencia's sphere can be implemented into robust mathematical models as a new pedagogical resource, in the subjects related to the study and analysis of the ellipses.
