The influence of television on the lives and actions of young people has given rise to a great deal of heated discussion over many years with many extreme unsubstantiated connections between the viewing habits of children and their subsequent actions made, mainly by adults. The author of this book seeks to widen the agenda of public debate about television viewing and its effects on children. There is no doubt in my mind that we have here a considerable and positive contribution in this respect, which should be taken very seriously by media production units, educationalists and policy makers.
