Sony's much-awaited follow-up to Parappa the Rappa brings down the house with a guitar-playing lamb and her all-girl psychedelic rock band, Milk Can.
This August, Sony Computer Entertainment America will release Um )ammer Lammy, the sequel to the genre-bending and award-winning PlayStation title Parappa the Rapper. The creative team behind the series is not your typical gaggle of gameheads. Masaya Matsuura, the lead creative, is an experimental musician; Gabin Ito, the scriptwriter, led a previous life as a conceptual artist; and Rodney Allen Greenblat, responsible for the cartoonishly flat characters and perversely playful visual design, is an artist, illustrator and designer. New York game designer and Parappa fan Eric Zimmerman caught up with Greenblat in his SoHo studio, the Center for Advanced Whimsy, to talk about the new game. First of all, tell us a little bit about Um Jammer Lammy. Where does the title come from?
