As part of a major new store opening and renovation program, Markham, Ontario-based Manchu Wok has developed three new designs for its restaurants. The Chinese fast food retailer will incorporate the designs into new and existing locations.
One of the store's new looks, the copper design, features design elements reminiscent of ancient Chinese culture. With a palette of natural colors including brown, sand and green, the design incorporates a hammered copper look.
"It is quite traditional," says Bob Edwards, director of marketing and corporate development for Manchu Wok. "In the Chinese culture, the copper represents eternity and represents the fact that you're a solid business and you will be there for a while. The design also has lighted symbols that are luck symbols for the Chinese, based on ancient Chinese coins." Designing an eye-catching, visually appealing restaurant such as this is important to make a food court retailer stand out from its neighbors, Edwards says.
