The State of the Cities Data Systems (SOCDS ) web site can give you this information and much, much more. The aim of the US Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD's) Office of Policy Development and Research (PD&R) is to support the Department's efforts to help create cohesive, economically healthy communities. PD&R is responsible for maintaining current information on housing needs, market conditions, and existing programs, as well as conducting research on priority housing and community development issues. PD&R provides reliable and objective data in addition to analysis to help inform policy decision making. PD&R created "HUD USER," which is an information source for housing and community development researchers, academics, policymakers, and the American public. HUD USER is the primary source for federal government reports and information on housing policy and programs, building technology, economic development, urban planning, and other housing-related topics. This web site aims to further the mission of the sponsoring organization described above by primarily supporting HUD's mission and policy agenda.
