Readers familiar with the Library of Congress classification system will know that it allocates two whole classes (E and F) to the history of America and only one (D) to the rest of the world. Similar proportions are found in this encyclopedia, with 330 entries of which 220 relate to the USA. This number of entries, in a book of two large volumes (of which one only was available for review), will indicate that its arrangement is not that of a conventional encyclopedia.
