The very fact of this being the 11th edition in 75 years of a large and pretty sumptuous volume probably tells us much of what we need to know about this book. It is obviously well established in the art education community, and in art and other libraries across the world; an 11th edition clearly tells us that the previous ten sold widely enough to establish the title.
