New features delivered in SQL diagnostic manager v4.5 include the following:
-- Monitoring Most Frequently Executed Queries -- Provides continuous monitoring and identification of the most frequently executed queries on a server. Metrics provided include, the number of times a query was run, total duration, total CPU time, and total reads/writes. These metrics complement the metrics monitored by SQL diagnostic manager's existing 'Worst Performing Queries' analysis to provide a powerful solution for identifying and resolving query performance bottlenecks.
-- Monitoring Operating System Metrics -- Provides the ability to monitor and alert on a wide range of operating system performance metrics including, CPU and memory usage, average disk queue length, disk time, and paging. These metrics combined with the SQL diagnostic manager's existing SQL Server performance metrics and powerful alerting capabilities provide a comprehensive performance dashboard enabling DBAs to quickly identify, diagnose and resolve performance and availability problems 'in-flight'.
-- Maintenance Mode -- Provides the ability for the server to be placed in maintenance mode, which prevents data collection and alerting from occurring during periods of maintenance, stress testing and planned downtime.
